Unitary Substation

Unitary Substation for Outdoor Use

Constructive features

The Compact Unitary Substations from Blutrafos Systems offer a wide variety of configurations that meet customer requirements. The equipment is developed under the vision of the rapid cities growth combined with the availability of reduced urban space. This solution can be applied in the most diverse types of environments where free space is a limiting factor. The electrical components are cooled by natural convection through ventilation fins, and forced ventilation can also be applied depending on the application's needs.

A Unitary Substation is basically composed of transformers connected mechanically and electrically with one or more sets of panels, divided into three units:

  • Primary input: input section with Medium Voltage supply;
  • Transformation: section that lowers the input voltage to a secondary distribution voltage;
  • Secondary output: output section that distributes power and protects the various feeders;

The use of the Compact Unitary Substations offers a series of advantages, with emphasis on:

  • Integrated equipment ready for connection in the field;
  • Based on the Plug and Play concept;
  • Low cost and reduced installation/start-up time;
  • Fully integrated and factory tested;
  • Reduced and efficient space occupation;
  • Reduced energy losses;
  • Customized solutions according to customer needs;
  • Increased service continuity;
  • Independent access to the various compartments for routine maintenance.

Description:

  • Access through independent doors to the MV, transformer and LV compartments;
  • The energy input can rely on air-insulated panels (AIS) or compact gas-insulated panels (GIS);
  • Low voltage distribution is done through circuit breakers, which can be open box type ACB or molded box MCCB according to the customer's specification;
  • Optionally, the system can have a capacitor bank driven by an automatic power factor controller;
  • Possibility of installing an automatic transfer board for switching between grid power sources and generator sets.
